Human Resources Intern (Full-time; Temporary)

Position Summary

This is a great opportunity for a new graduate of an HR program to gain experience while making a difference for vulnerable members of our community.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Intern’s main responsibilities will include:


• Set up and maintain accurate documentation and filing systems as required, electronic and hard copy, and ensuring filing is up to date
• Support the Human Resources function with day to day administration, including responding to and directing employee inquiries, assisting with and/or directly compose and/or prepare letters, memos, presentations and other documentation as directed, including conducting research
• Provide full scale recruitment support (pre-screening, interview coordination, reference checks, offer letters, background checks, credentials etc.)
• Assist with the maintenance and/or implementation of accreditation standards related to Human Resources and Health and Safety including conducting research, updating policies, coordinating routine drills and tests, etc.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement by offering suggestions for improved services and use of resources
• Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Human Resources and/or Operations

Skills and Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
• Minimum one year’s direct experience with administration in an office and/or Human Resources capacity
• Highly organized, possess a solid ability to plan and effectively manage large volumes of work with a high degree of accuracy and extreme attention to detail
• Ability to interact with all levels of administration in a professional manner, while demonstrating confidentiality; tact and diplomacy
• Passionate about delivering excellent customer service, and presenting a professional image
• Resourceful, self-starter, able to work under pressure, with minimal direction, and able to manage their own time and projects
• Advanced computer skill with Microsoft Office products required; Word, Excel and Power Point
• Experience with an HR and Payroll database is an asset
• Skilled in maintaining accurate employee records and filing systems
• Sound judgment and the ability to effectively problem solve and assess the situation to determine the urgency and risk, and escalate accordingly
